SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY

1992:  Accreditation to and participation in the final negotiating session of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, Nairobi, Kenya, May, 1992, and opening for signature of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. June 4, 1992; meetings of the Conference of the Parties to the treaty in Nassau, Bahamas (COP-1, 1994); Jakarta, Indonesia (COP-2, 1995), Curitiba, Brazil (COP-8, 2006)

1992:  Accreditation to and participation in the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (“UNCED” or the “Earth Summit”), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, May-June 1992

1996-present:  Accreditation to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as a Non-Governmental Organization (“NGO”) in consultative status with ECOSOC (roster status)

2004:  Organized Side Event with Union Internationale des Avocats (“UIA”) on Cross-Cutting Issues during CSD-12 with representatives from the United Nations Environment Programme, the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs, the United Nations Foundation, and the World Bank

1993-2013:  Accreditation to and participation in the meetings of the Commission on Sustainable Development (“CSD”) at UN Headquarters, New York

Representative meetings:   High-Level Event on the MDGs and Post-2015 Development Agenda, 25 September 2013; Intersessional Meeting between Major Groups and other Stakeholders with the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, 22 November 2013; Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, 9th session 3-5 March 2014, 11th session 5-9 May 2014, 12th session 16-20 June 2014, 13th session, 14-18 July 2014; SIDS Intersessional, 21-25 April 2014; SIDS Final Prep Com Meeting, 23-27 June 2014; Participation in the meetings of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals regarding the final Report to ECOSOC in July, 2014

Representative meetings:  General Assembly hearings with NGOs, civil society organizations, Major Groups, and the private sector in preparation for the UN Summit for the Adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda; Participation in the United Nations General Assembly meetings on the preparations for the Summit on Sustainable Development and the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development containing the Sustainable Development Goals, January-July 2015; accredited as NGO to the Summit on Sustainable Development of heads of state and government, September 25-27, 2015, UN Headquarters, New York; United Nations General Assembly Second Committee with Civil Society as member of NGO Major Group, October-present; Signatory on civil society letters in support of on-going modalities for civil society participation in the work of the United Nations at all levels in monitoring and implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Development and for development of indicators to measure achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals
